PEOPLES INSTITUTE IS BACK! September 3 to 7, 2020
Circle Pines Center’s 4th Peoples Institute will again focus on the Earth’s Climate which has worsened from changing to Crisis and Catastrophe. We will start with a report on the State of the Climate. We will then progress through
· Local food and water sustainability issues;
· The social upheavals our communities will experience as we adjust to or welcome climate and conflict refugees;
· The responsibilities governments have to help citizens and refugees reduce their use of fossil fuels, change to sustainable practices, mitigate and sequester carbon and other greenhouse gases; until we reach the topic of social justice in the global economy.
We hope by the end of Peoples Institute each individual will be motivated, empowered, and know enough to contribute to the solutions of a just, low-carbon world. To reach this goal we will work on what each person can contribute daily.
We will have two presentations with discussion and one skill-building session each day. Presenters will be activists who have contributed to identifying and working on these issues.
People’s Institute is open to all people, of all ages. Optional programming may be included for families or children—if we know they are needed by July.
